Supporting COPE and Strengthening Labor’s Political Voice
Adam Fernandez explains the purpose of COPE, how voluntary contributions support labor advocacy, and why member participation matters.
Brothers and Sisters,
As we move closer toward contract negotiations and continue fighting for stronger protections, better pay, improved working conditions, and respect on the job, one thing becomes very clear: our union’s strength does not stop at the workplace — it also depends on our voice in the political arena.
That is why signing up for COPE is so important.
COPE (Committee on Political Education) is the voluntary program that helps support lawmakers and legislation that stand with working families, labor rights, aviation workers, and collective bargaining rights. These contributions are not union dues — they are completely voluntary and every dollar helps protect our jobs and our future.
When we support COPE, we help fight for:
- Stronger worker protections
- Better labor laws
- Protection of collective bargaining rights
- Safer workplaces
- Retirement and healthcare protections
- Political support for union labor and aviation workers
The company has lobbyists and corporate influence working every day to push their agenda. COPE helps ensure working people also have a seat at the table and a voice that cannot be ignored.
Even small contributions make a difference when we stand together collectively. A few dollars per paycheck can help strengthen our union’s ability to advocate not only during negotiations, but also in legislative battles that directly affect our careers and families.
If you have not signed up for COPE yet, I encourage you to consider participating. Supporting COPE is another way we stand united and continue building a stronger future for all members.
