Executive Board Addresses CS Restrictions and Member Accountability
The Executive Board shared an update on discussions with management regarding CS restrictions while encouraging members to improve attendance, complete training, and seek union assistance when needed.
Good Evening Everyone,
I have been receiving several questions regarding the current CS policy restrictions. Please know that I have ongoing discussions with upper management on this topic every week. During these meetings, I continue to advocate for our members by presenting concerns, proposing solutions, and discussing ways to improve and adapt to the challenges we are facing.
As your union, we will always fight to protect our members' rights and work toward policies that are fair and reasonable. However, we must also acknowledge the challenges we are facing as a workforce.
Currently, more than 90 employees have not completed required lessons that were due on June 12, and over 100 employees are above 7.5 attendance points. We understand that life happens and unforeseen circumstances arise. Attendance issues can affect anyone, and that is why the union is here to help. However, repeated attendance violations, excessive SKUs, and CSKs make it increasingly difficult to advocate for the removal of these restrictions. The company continues to use these numbers to justify its position.
If we want to see meaningful change, we must work together. Accountability is a two-way street. The union will continue holding the company accountable, but we also need members to do their part.
A Few Ways We Can Improve
- Report attendance issues as soon as they occur. Do not wait weeks before seeking assistance.
- Use sick time for its intended purpose when you are genuinely ill or unable to work.
- Avoid unnecessary call-offs, especially on CSW days, as these have the greatest impact on staffing and operational performance.
- Complete all required training and lessons by their due dates.
Most importantly, if you are struggling with attendance, please reach out. You are not alone. Your union can assist with FMLA, LOAs, attendance concerns, and other available resources. We are here to help members navigate difficult situations before they become larger problems.
Our strength comes from standing together. By supporting one another, improving accountability, and addressing issues early, we put ourselves in the strongest position to advocate for positive changes and the removal of restrictions.
