Mandatory Overtime, Winter Bid, PT Crew Chief Opportunities & INFOR Updates

October 9, 2026

Updates on midnight staffing, mandatory overtime, the Winter Bid grievance, part-time Crew Chief opportunities, and INFOR scheduling improvements.

Good afternoon, brothers and sisters,

I met with the company yesterday to follow up on mandatory overtime, Infor, PT CC opportunities, and the winter bid structure. Our message remains clear: our members deserve proper staffing, a workable schedule, and respect for their time. You have carried the burden of these ongoing problems, and the company must take responsibility for addressing them.

Mandatory Overtime and Midnight Staffing

We know the toll repeated mandatory overtime takes on you and your families. It affects your rest, your responsibilities outside of work, and your ability to plan your lives. Your frustration is justified, and the union will continue to press for meaningful relief.

Management informed us that 25 part-time midnight clerks will start this Saturday night. A major concern has been the company’s lack of preparation and planning for how to use this crew to reduce mandatory overtime. I proposed several solutions that the company has now agreed to try. We will closely monitor how these members are assigned to ensure they support the closing operation and help everyone leave on time, or as close to it as possible.

The grievances I have filed have put pressure on the company to address these issues. Management will now begin using staffing templates that identify open lines and the coverage needed based on delayed flights at the end of the night. These templates should help the company identify shortages and move staffing where it is needed.

The company has acknowledged that calling approximately 180 to 185 mandatory assignments every night should not be necessary. Call-offs and staffing shortages may still require mandatory overtime on certain days, but they cannot continue to serve as a blanket explanation for these numbers day after day. We expect the company to follow through with better planning and staffing.

Management has also agreed to monitor the operation more closely after mandatory overtime is called. When the schedule gets back on track, the company should announce TL opportunities for members who want to leave. We will hold management accountable for following through on that commitment.

Winter Bid Structure

The winter bid structure the company implemented after rejecting the union’s proposal has created staffing and operational problems that our members are now dealing with.

As previously shared, I submitted a revised structure and a timeline for a rebid. The company denied that proposal, stating that the deice operation is too critical to interrupt training for a rebid. That response does not resolve the problems we have raised or the impact on our members.

Once the company provides its first-step answer, I will advance the grievance to the second step. Our goal is to get the grievance onto the mediation docket and continue pressing the company to address the operational issues caused by the winter bid structure. We will continue challenging the company’s refusal to make needed changes.

PT CC Opportunities

PT CC opportunities have now been sent to everyone’s email. If you are an FT CC, FT FSC, or PT FSC and would like to apply, please check your email and follow the instructions provided. The company will review all applications with the union.

INFOR and Scheduling Flexibility

We understand how frustrating it has been to lose the scheduling flexibility members previously had through the Roster app. That flexibility matters. It helps members manage their personal responsibilities and take advantage of opportunities under the CS policy.

I presented management with specific member examples of system, coding, and scheduling problems that are limiting those opportunities. Issues involving overlaps exceeding 30 minutes, same-work-area overlaps, canceling pending trades, and work group restrictions have been submitted to Infor for review and possible changes. Partial shift trades were also raised and remain under company review.

I made it clear that restoring this flexibility must be a priority, even if it requires additional work by the departments involved. Members should not be left carrying the burden of a system that does not meet their scheduling needs. The company agreed that it must work through these issues and find ways to support members who want to use the benefits of the CS policy. We expect that agreement to lead to concrete improvements.

The daily roster reports previously available in the Roster app are also being worked on in Infor. The company hopes to have them available next week. We will follow up on that timeline and keep members informed.

Thank you to everyone who has shared examples and brought these concerns forward. Your voices matter, and your involvement helps the union demand accountability.

We will continue to press for solutions, monitor the company’s commitments, and keep you updated as more information becomes available in the coming week. Our members deserve action and results, and we will keep pushing for both.
