Contract Negotiations, Workplace Privacy, Travel Privileges & Grievance Updates

October 15, 2026 · 8:02 AM

Updates on contract negotiations, workplace privacy, travel privileges, Winter Bid and overtime grievances, and tomorrow’s breast cancer awareness fundraiser.

Good morning, Brothers and Sisters,

Julius Cajigas and I are in DFW today for another two-day session of contract negotiations. Our focus remains on fighting for a stronger contract that protects our rights, improves our working conditions, and puts our members first. We will provide an update tomorrow once our sessions have concluded.

In the meantime, I want to address several important concerns that have come to our attention this week.

Protecting Your Privacy and Respect in the Workplace

Management is required to follow Envoy’s Employee Privacy Policy. Access to employee information, including personal phone numbers, is limited to authorized individuals with a legitimate business need and must be used for appropriate business-related purposes.

This week, I raised concerns with Human Resources regarding management’s continued use of members’ personal phone numbers to contact them about work assignments, flights, and operational matters. I have provided specific examples of conversations that have crossed the line, including instances where communications have become borderline harassing and members have been subjected to harsh responses.

Let me be clear: our members deserve to be treated with professionalism and respect.

I have made my position clear to Human Resources: the company should be utilizing its established communication systems, including scanners, radios, and company telephones, rather than routinely relying on employees’ personal phone numbers to manage daily work assignments.

Your personal phone should not become a tool for unnecessary pressure or inappropriate communication from management.

If you experience harassment, inappropriate calls or texts, or are being aggressively questioned about a flight or work assignment, please contact us immediately. Document the date, time, and details of the interaction, and save any relevant messages. We will document these concerns and address them through the appropriate channels.

Your union is here to stand up for you. You do not have to deal with these situations alone.

Travel Privileges — Know the Rules and Protect Your Job

Another issue brought to our attention this week involves investigations into the abuse of employee travel privileges.

Everyone needs to understand that the company takes these matters seriously. Violations of travel policies can result in disciplinary action, including termination.

Please remember:

  • Never share your password or login credentials with anyone to book flights, check in, or access your travel account. This is against company policy.
  • Never manipulate verification forms or other required documentation to obtain D2/D3 travel privileges. Using AI or any other method to falsify or alter documents violates company policy and can put your employment at risk.
  • Follow all applicable travel policies and procedures. Do not assume that a violation will go unnoticed or that you will avoid the consequences.

The company has processes for reviewing and investigating potential violations. Do not jeopardize your livelihood over travel privileges.

We will always stand up for members’ contractual rights and ensure that concerns involving discipline are handled appropriately. At the same time, everyone has a responsibility to understand and follow company policy. Protect your job, protect your future, and make informed decisions.

Grievance Update: Winter Bid and Mandatory Overtime

Both grievances concerning the winter bid structure and the mandatory overtime process have now advanced to the second step of the grievance procedure.

We continue to challenge these issues and are awaiting the company’s next decisions. We will keep pushing for accountability and solutions that address the concerns our members have raised.

These grievances are part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that contractual language is respected and that operational decisions do not come at the expense of our members.

We will continue to pursue these matters through the established grievance process and keep you informed as they progress.

Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser — Tomorrow

Tomorrow, our Working Women’s Committee will be hosting a breast cancer awareness fundraiser.

Committee Chair Vivian Lewis and members of the Executive Board will be selling nachos in the L3 break room to support this important cause.

During Tuesday’s Executive Board meeting, we were informed that the International will be contributing $2,500 toward our fundraising efforts. We sincerely appreciate the International’s support and commitment to helping us make a difference.

I also want to recognize Vice President Mark for generously fronting the money needed to purchase the materials for the fundraiser. His support and willingness to step up demonstrate the kind of teamwork and commitment that help make these efforts possible.

Thank you to everyone involved in organizing this event and to every member who participates. When we come together as a union, we can support important causes that reach beyond the workplace and into our communities.

I know the weather back home in Chicago is expected to be wet today, so please be careful, stay safe, and look out for one another.
