Membership Meeting, Election, Roundtable & Payroll Update

September 29, 2026

An update on the membership meeting, upcoming election, Company Roundtable, mandatory overtime, Winter Bid concerns, and payroll issues.

Good evening, brothers and sisters,

I want to thank everyone who came out to Monday’s membership meeting. It was great to see so many members participate, ask questions, speak up, and hold your Executive Board accountable. That is exactly what an engaged union should look like.

A special thank-you to Election Committee members Jose Penaloza and Andrew Carrera for taking the time to explain the election process and answer questions from the membership. With the changes being made, I am confident we can move forward with a clear, transparent process.

Regarding the Upcoming Election

I also want to make sure everyone understands why we are being required to rerun an election that took place approximately six months ago.

Every member has the right to challenge an election and its results, regardless of whether they were a candidate. The appropriate appeal process was followed. The former Executive Board heard the appeal, reviewed the facts, and voted to grant the appeal and rerun the election.

The current Executive Board elected in April challenged that decision through the International Appeals Committee. Last week, we were notified that our appeal was denied and that we must move forward with a new election.

While we were disappointed with that decision, we respect the democratic process and will move forward.

But I want to make one thing absolutely clear:

ANOTHER ELECTION DOES NOT STOP THE WORK OF THIS EXECUTIVE BOARD.

We were elected to represent the membership, and that responsibility continues every single day.

We will continue to:

  • Fight for your rights.
  • Enforce our CBA.
  • Hold the company accountable.
  • Address violations.
  • Fight for safer working conditions.
  • Demand answers when the company fails our membership.
  • Remain transparent with our members.
  • Listen to your concerns and act on them.

Our priority remains the membership of TWU Local 571 — not an election.

Today, members of your Executive Board welcomed 25+ new members during the new-hire welcome. Our membership continues to grow, and with that growth comes an even greater responsibility to protect every member we represent.

Tomorrow’s Company Roundtable

Tomorrow we will meet with the company for an important Roundtable meeting. Some of the major issues on the table will include:

  • Mandatory overtime
  • INFOR
  • Payroll
  • Badging
  • Lack of communication
  • The request to rebid and restructure the Winter Bid

When I took office as President, one of my priorities was to bring these Roundtable meetings back. For too long, the company and the Union have been too far apart when it comes to addressing problems.

That changes now.

These meetings are important because both sides participate formally, minutes are taken, and issues can be directly addressed and followed up on.

I have spent the last several weeks filing grievances and documenting violations, particularly surrounding mandatory overtime, where we continue to see repeated problems nearly every weekend.

Tomorrow, I will formally request that the company rebid and restructure the Winter Bid around the actual flight schedule to address the staffing problems contributing to the excessive mandatory overtime we are seeing.

We have been patient. We have communicated. We have raised the concerns.

Now we expect action.

The company has a responsibility to follow our agreement and properly staff the operation. When they fail to do that, the Union will hold them accountable and pursue every avenue available to protect our members' rights.

These issues are not going to simply disappear because there is another election. Your Executive Board will continue doing the job you elected us to do.

After tomorrow’s meeting, I will compile a detailed update for the membership so everyone knows what was discussed, what was accomplished, and what still needs to be addressed.

Payroll

As soon as your paycheck becomes available online, check your hours carefully.

After everything we have discussed with Labor Relations, I am hopeful that the outstanding payroll issues have been corrected. However, if you are still missing hours, overtime, holiday pay, differentials, or any other compensation, contact me immediately.

We will compile the information and continue pushing to get these issues corrected.

Your paycheck matters. Your contract matters. Your rights matter.

Thank you for staying informed, staying involved, and continuing to hold us accountable.

This Executive Board will not stop working.

We will continue to show up. We will continue to fight. We will continue to demand accountability. And we will continue putting the membership first.

No election, no disagreement, and no obstacle changes the responsibility we have to the brothers and sisters of TWU Local 571.

The work continues. The fight continues. And your Union will continue standing up for you.
