Roundtable Update: Staffing, Mandatory Overtime, Payroll, Gate Changes and Winter Bid
An update from today’s company roundtable covering Landline, Porter operations, CCQ seniority, INFOR, gate changes, floating holidays, mandatory overtime, Winter Bid, bus service and payroll issues.
Good evening, brothers and sisters,
Today we held our monthly roundtable meeting with the company. We came prepared with issues affecting our members, and we made it clear that “operational need” cannot continue to be the answer to every problem.
Here are the important updates:
Landline
October 3 will be the final day of Landline operations.
If you are currently bid Landline, you will move to ASD and must check your schedule daily for placement.
The Union is already looking at alternatives to ASD and will continue pushing for better options.
Porter Airlines — L26/L27
Porter has started aircraft fit checks at L26 and L27. The operation is expected to run two flights per day, primarily out of L27.
If you are bid to the gate, the company will schedule the required training.
There is a 5-hour training lesson required for employees working the aircraft.
There will also be a sign-up opportunity for employees who want to learn the aircraft for overtime and CS opportunities.
CCQ Overtime / Seniority
We addressed concerns regarding CCQ overtime assignments and seniority violations.
The company has acknowledged the concerns and will implement changes to ensure seniority is respected.
We will continue watching this closely.
INFOR / Dependability Points
INFOR is still not reflecting points correctly.
Once the system is fully updated, the forgiveness points will be recognized and the system should automatically remove eligible points at the 60-day mark, consistent with the Dependability Forgiveness Program.
You can find the Dependability Forgiveness Program form in the Resources section.
If an overlap shift is sent back to you, the remaining time will be TL.
Partials are still not currently allowed. The Union has requested this be changed, and the company is reviewing it.
CC Meeting
A CC meeting is being scheduled for October.
We are also pushing to provide a Zoom option so CCs who cannot attend in person can still participate.
Gate & Break Room Changes
September 30
- G8 closes at 1900 and transitions permanently to Alaska. G7 will then be allocated to AA.
- G10 closes at 2300 and transitions permanently to Alaska.
October 1 — Regional
- G19, G20 and G21 transition to AA operations for CR7s.
- G21 will primarily handle Denver.
- G19/G20 will primarily handle Contour.
- G17 remains operational until restriping begins overnight October 2 and will temporarily serve as an additional Contour gate.
- G13 may continue handling narrowbody aircraft until it is converted to a Regional CR7 gate.
Current ready-room assignments will be:
- G20/G21/G19: Bus stop break room
- G19A/G17/G13: Former G8/G10 break room
These accommodations are not ideal, and we made that clear. We are continuing to push for better facilities for our members.
Floating Holiday
The company continues using “operational need” when denying weekend requests.
For Monday-Friday requests, the current available amounts are 2 AM and 2 PM.
If you choose to CSO a day, you can place your floating holiday on that date instead.
Attendance / Payroll / Badging
Communication, or the lack of it, was a heated discussion today.
We made it clear that members cannot be left waiting days or weeks for answers from departments that are responsible for correcting their issues.
The company has committed to improving communication.
Please use these contacts:
Attendance:
ord.envoy.attendance@aa.com
Payroll:
DL_ORD_Envoy_Payroll@aa.com
Badging:
ord.envoy.badging@aa.com
PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL AND CLEAR OUT SPACE.
You need to be able to receive follow-up communication from these departments.
Mandatory Overtime
The Union made our position very clear:
Mandatory overtime cannot be used as a substitute for proper staffing.
We have provided the company with multiple solutions and proposals. Those proposals have been rejected, and our grievances are now moving forward.
We also formally requested a winter bid rebid today and provided documentation and evidence supporting the request.
The company acknowledged the staffing and mandatory overtime concerns and will review the information to determine whether a winter rebid is warranted.
We also addressed the use of sub-work areas when assigning mandatory overtime and the seniority violations this can create.
Going forward, the company will no longer mandate employees based on subarea. Mandatory overtime will be assigned according to the contractual inverse order of seniority by classification/work area.
We will hold them accountable to that.
Employee Bus Service
Bus service concerns were also addressed.
The Union presented proposed schedule and operational changes, and the company will review them.
Payroll / INFOR — We Need Your Help
If you are still missing pay or have unresolved payroll issues, send the information to me again.
We have now secured a weekly meeting to review payroll corrections and payment of hours.
When submitting an issue, please include:
- Full name
- Employee number
- Date(s) affected
- Hours/pay missing
- Screenshots
- Any previous communication or ticket information
INFOR and Payroll at headquarters are currently backed up with requests from multiple stations. That does not mean we are going to sit back and wait.
We will continue pushing until these errors are corrected and our members receive the pay they earned.
This Union will continue to bring the issues directly to the table, demand answers, and hold the company accountable.
We work for the membership. We will continue fighting for the membership.
