Weekly Update on Roundtable Meetings, Summer Bid Planning, and Local Transition Progress

May 16, 2026 · 5:31 PM

Adam Fernandez provides updates on roundtable discussions, summer bid planning, safety initiatives, union events, and the completion of Local 571’s account transition.

Good evening everyone,

Weekly Update

It has been an extremely busy week, and I want to thank everyone for their continued patience and support as we continue transitioning, reorganizing the Local, and getting things back on track. We are moving forward and getting ready to get back to business.

On Wednesday, the Executive Board met to discuss several important topics, including internal organization and bylaws review. We are hoping to have the bylaws finalized and ready to present during our first General Membership Meeting on June 2nd.

On Thursday, we held our first roundtable meeting with the company in over 5 years. Several important topics were discussed, including safety, sick time usage, vacation concerns, mandatory overtime, daily overtime, and the upcoming summer bid.

I will be meeting with the company again this week to begin discussing ideas and structure for the summer bid. The Executive Board made it very clear that the current staffing structure and the company’s continued use of mandatory overtime every single night is not a long-term solution we support.

The company also informed us that beginning June 2nd, the operation will increase to:

  • 18 outbounds from 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
  • 18 outbounds from 11:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

This will place significant strain on both the operation and staffing levels, as we are currently not structured for that demand. We provided several immediate recommendations and are currently waiting for follow-up discussions.

The Union and company also agreed to establish weekly safety meetings with the TWU Local 571 Safety Team moving forward.

We also discussed inconsistencies involving the sick time policy and sick hour usage. It was clarified that if sick time is entered ahead of time, you will automatically be clocked out at the submission time.

If you need to leave in the middle of your shift, the correct procedure is:

  1. Notify your supervisor
  2. Report to the MOD
  3. Submit the sick form afterward

Please do not submit sick forms hours in advance if you are still actively working.

The company will also be providing an updated vacation bid list, as the current version emailed out is not accurate and several lines showing open have already been filled by new hires.

These roundtable meetings will now continue monthly, with the next meeting scheduled for June.

On Friday, the newly elected Executive Board — elected in a landslide victory on April 2, 2026 — was officially sworn in by International Representative. This was an important milestone that recognized all the hard work and dedication that brought us to this point. The work does not stop here, and we will continue moving this Local forward together.

Six Flags Member Appreciation Event

The Six Flags Member Appreciation flyer has been posted online. Please scan the QR code and follow the directions to secure your tickets.

Important reminders:

  • Registration closes Monday at 11:59 p.m.
  • Additional ticket requests are limited to dependent children only
  • Verification documents are required for additional tickets
  • Tickets will be distributed digitally this year
  • There is no additional cost for approved dependent tickets

The Events Committee will review all submissions after registration closes. Anyone needing to resubmit documentation, or whose request is denied, will be contacted directly. We are also awaiting confirmation from the Six Flags coordinator regarding whether tickets can remain active beyond the June 6th event date.

Additionally, TWU Local 571 officially gained full access to all bank and payroll accounts on Friday after significant delays. This now allows us to begin organizing our financials, address overdue obligations, and move forward with union business, future events, and operational planning without further delay.

This coming Tuesday and Wednesday we will also be hosting Union Rep interviews. Flyers are posted throughout the ramp, and we encourage anyone ready to step up, lead, and fight for our membership to apply.
