Summer Bid Meeting Moved Up and Negotiations Planning Update
Adam Fernandez provides an update on summer bid planning, mandatory overtime concerns, and the completion of union representative interviews.
Weekly update:
I was informed a little while ago that the summer bid meeting originally scheduled for next Thursday has now been moved up to tomorrow.
This will give me a better understanding of what the company is trying to structure for the upcoming summer bid. I have already made my position very clear to the company: we cannot structure a bid that fails to meet operational requirements while continuing to force mandatory overtime every single night. That is not a sustainable solution and it is not acceptable.
Per the CBA, the company is supposed to provide the union with the flight schedule, staffing headcount, and overall bid structure so the union can construct and submit its own proposal.
Once I receive all the necessary information, I will begin working on adjustments to the bid proposal. The company and the union will continue discussions until we can hopefully come to a reasonable agreement.
As the CBA states, if an agreement cannot be reached, the company ultimately has final say on the bid structure.
However, my goal is to work toward an understanding that creates a bid that is operationally sound and fair to our members.
Lastly, the Executive Board completed union representative interviews today.
We truly appreciate everyone who came out and interviewed. It was extremely promising to see so many members wanting to get involved and help move this local forward again.
The entire Executive Board will be back at work tomorrow. If you need us, please reach out.
Thank you all again for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we continue rebuilding and moving this local in the right direction together.
