INFOR Launch Problems and Mandatory Overtime Rights
Union update on INFOR launch issues, scheduling problems, vacation entry, sick time, overtime, and mandatory overtime notification rights.
Good afternoon, brothers and sisters,
Let’s be very clear: the launch of INFOR has gone terribly wrong, and the membership is the one being forced to carry the burden of the company’s failures.
The company had weeks to prepare for this transition. We expected some issues and understood there would be a learning curve, but what we are experiencing is far beyond normal “hiccups.” Scheduling is confused about the proper processes, employees are being given conflicting information, and the system is not functioning the way it was presented to us.
I have received your messages regarding scheduling not answering the phones, doors being locked, and employees being told to simply “figure it out on your own.” That is unacceptable. These concerns will be brought directly to the company.
Issues Already Being Reported
Some of the issues we are already seeing include:
- Overlapping CS requests that will not allow employees to submit them
- CCQs only being able to see CCQs and not regular FSCs
- Vacations still not appearing in INFOR
- Shift trades not properly reflecting on employees’ schedules
- Daily schedules and dependability reports appearing in INFOR but the links not being active
- The billboard still being deactivated, despite it being an important tool for employees and management
Regarding vacations, we have already been told they will be updated throughout the week and that there will be no disruption to your pay. We will continue monitoring this closely.
I have already requested a meeting with company officials tomorrow, August 17, so we can continue addressing these failures and, more importantly, establish a clear plan for the remainder of this week.
CS Restrictions and Staffing Problems
I also want to reiterate something I raised with the company before this launch: restricting the membership from CS over the weekend was the wrong decision.
We warned that doing so could create staffing problems. Now we are seeing exactly what we warned about, and once again, the membership is being forced to pay the price through mandatory overtime and increased workload.
The company made the decision. Our members are carrying the consequences.
Until Further Notice
Overtime: Continue signing up for overtime using the link the company sent to your email.
Sick Time: If you are calling in sick, continue using the online sick form. Do not attempt to submit your sick time through INFOR at this time.
Vacations: Continue taking your approved vacation. We have been told these will be entered into INFOR as the week progresses.
I am also working to get clarification on how employees are supposed to access the daily schedule and dependability reports. The links appear to be available in INFOR, but they do not appear to be active yet.
The company is also working on getting the billboard activated again. For whatever reason, we have been told it is currently deactivated here in Chicago while other locations are not experiencing the same issue. We will continue pushing for answers.
Mandatory Overtime: Know Your Rights
I want everyone to pay close attention to the language in our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) regarding mandatory overtime notification:
Such notice will be provided in writing and/or via scanner or other Company owned electronic means and will also be posted for employees to check prior to the end of their shift in predesignated area(s).
That language is there for a reason.
Management cannot simply verbally tell you that you are mandatory and consider the contractual notification requirement satisfied. The company must follow the notification procedures outlined in our CBA.
If you are told you are mandatory, make sure you understand how and when the notification was provided. If you believe the proper procedure was not followed, document it and contact the Union.
As soon as we get updates I will continue to communicate with everyone.
